Hardly a day… an hour … goes by that a real estate agent isn’t asked to purchase the next best product to build his or her business. There is no magic pill or program that can build your business without YOU!
After over 25 years in the real estate industry I have seen so many ways to separate real estate agents and their money. from advertising in a home type magazine, mailing out professional newsletters, sending out an “item of value,” delivering pumpkins, to having a good looking blog. If it was just a matter of spending money on the newest marketing kick, then the agents that got there first would have the most business.
Even the word “exclusive” can make a real estate agent salivate. The idea that they are purchasing the first right to a certain target market sounds so yummy.
But, STOP! Do NOT spend buckets of money you may not even have.
If you buy a classy looking blog with a dynamite URL maybe someone from Pompano Beach, Florida might find you and hire you as a buyers agent. But, the odds are not really in your favor. You might be better off investing in the lottery.
Your business will come from someone who knows you, who knows someone that knows you, or who has heard about you from someone that knows you.
So what about a social media campaign?
First of all… focus on your sphere. If you write a blog, imagine those in your sphere reading it.
Secondly … market to your sphere. Get the information on your social media campaign to them.
Third … share yourself. Your best friend and past clients don’t want some canned information from you!
Where do you get the time and learn about social media? Just start. Don’t spend gobs of money! Most of the ways to market yourself online are completely free. You HAVE the time.
